I wanted to share some of the health benefits of juicing with limes and oranges to improve your health.  Blending nutrient dense fruit juice is easy to make in a blender, store, and enjoy.

We all know vitamin C helps prevent scurvy. That knowledge has been around for a long time.  Here are some of the latest discoveries that are coming out on vitamin c also known as ascorbic acid.

Let’s start with the limes with fruit pulp which is soluble fiber.

The fruit pulp of limes contain pectin which is a carbohydrate. Carbs are needed by the body for fuel, but too much carbs consumed and not burned will pack on the pounds. Pectin has been shown in studies conducted on the  pectin of limes helps with cholesterol levels.

As scientists continue to study limes they make frequent new discoveries in their lab research. From one of their studies, they discovered that limes have help prevent cancer.

Antioxidants

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that defends your body’s cells against free radicals. Vitamin C is not the only antioxidant that can defend your body. The other antioxidants are Vitamin E and carotenoids.

Free radicals damage the body’s cells and cause chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and some types of cancers. By increasing your intake of antioxidants according to the medical studies, you can stay healthier.

Helps Produce White Blood Cells

Vitamin C increases the production of white blood cells which boosts your immune system to fight off infections and diseases. Vitamin C helps boost your immune system. If you have a cold, vitamin C helps speed up the recovery process from a cold virus.

Vitamin C helps you absorb iron.

Many women need extra iron.

Limes contain high amounts of vitamin C.  Vitamin C helps your body produce collagen. Collagen is a protein that slows down the aging and wrinkling of skin. With vitamin C from juice consumption you can potentially stay looking younger longer.

Nutritional Information

Here is what the USDA says limes contain as far as nutrition goes. They contain protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, sugar, and large amounts of vitamin C. Limes also contain small amounts of potassium, zinc, calcium, B6, and thiamine.

Oranges

Oranges offer the same health benefits as limes. These fruits contain similar nutrients as limes. Carbohydrates, fiber, calcium, iron, and potassium.

The recipe:

6 limes peeled
3 navel oranges peeled
1 cup filtered purified water

Can add sugar if you don’t like the sour taste to make the juice sweeter. I recommend organic sugar which looks somewhat like brown sugar. Costs the same as regular sugar. Sweeten to your taste.

As you peel the oranges try to save a few slices for decoration to go into the juice. The orange peel adds a deeper orange color to the orange limeade by allowing to sit in the fridge for an hour or so.

Blender:
Place the oranges and limes into the blender use the grate setting and then eventually switch to the puree setting.
